The karate supplies most commonly used are those related to the uniform, or karategi. This is because the martial art primarily emphasizes empty-handed techniques. In fact, the Japanese term "karate" literally means "empty hand."

One of the main elements of karate supplies is the training uniform. This is known as the karategi. It developed from the original design of the judo uniform. Traditionally, the karategi is comprised of three pieces. These are the jacket (uwagi,) pants (zubon) and belt (obi.)

Karate supplies also include many items developed for training. Padded surfaces are of particular importance to training facilities. Equipment for safer sparring are also important supplies. Protective gear for the head, arms, shins, chest, and groin are just a few examples. Mouth guards are also important gear items.
